Lion & Lamb declared The Ultimate Venue…

The Lion & Lamb, run by Lawrence and Sally Champion, is a family pub that promises a warm welcome and is a key part of the local community. β€œWe are a family with two young children running the pub as a community venue,” says Lawrence.

β€œWe run family fun weekends to utilise our garden, which has a bouncy castle, trampoline and play area for customers,” explains Sally. β€œParents can watch the children from our heated and covered patio area, where there is also a full 47” HD TV showing Sky Sports.”

The pub boasts an indoor lower bar area where the 3D TV is situated and this forms the primary area for watching sports, while at the other end of the main bar is the lounge area, with comfortable seating around an inglenook fireplace. This is used as an overflow to the restaurant, or for showing additional sport on the second indoor HD TV.

β€œWe have a snug just off the lower bar area, again ideal for groups of 10 dining or for poker nights,” says Sally. β€œWe then have our 30-seater restaurant area which is a no-TV zone for those who require quieter, more attentive table service when dining.”

Thanks to the zoning of the pub, the Champions are able to show a wide range of sport, tying it in with competitions and loyalty schemes to keep customers interested.

Lawrence explains, β€œWe show international England matches, particularly World Cup and European Cup matches, and these are usually followed by a free BBQ for customers who have qualified over the weeks and collected points for purchases while the games are on Sky.”
